Mamaia, “the Pearl of the Romanian seaside”, is the country’s most popular resort, being known for its vibrant nightlife. It is an 8km strip of wide beach running between Lake Siutghiol and the Black Sea, providing to the tourists a wide range of activities, such as waterskiing, jet skiing, kayaking, kite surfing and surfing. Mamaia offers golden sands and elegant 3, 4 and 5 stars hotels with open-air swimming pools and sports fields, but this is not all that you can do in the resort.
Try the local restaurants and discos or take a visit to the Dolphinarium and Planetarium nearby. The gondola will take you from the southern end of Mamaia to just north of the casino, the resort’s heart, revealing a wonderful panorama over the Black Sea and Lake Siutghiol. Right next to the gondola’s first station is Aqua Magic, a huge amusement and water park. The diversity of the water attractions and shows makes it the perfect place for having fun. Mamaia is also on the route of the tourist bus – Constanța Bus. If you come here in early September, don’t miss the annual National Pop Music festival, which brings together bands from across the country.
Visit the neighbouring Constanța to visit the city’s important attractions, which include the Aquarium, the Archaeological and National History Museum, the Archaeological Park or the Casino.
