Tour 1
3-day Transylvania Tour
Day 1 (130km): Drive from Sibiu to Sighişoara, stopping on the way to visit the Saxon fortified Church in Biertan and the Saxon church and Apafi Manor in Mălâncrav.
Day 2 (115km): Take DN13 road to Braşov and halt in the Saxon village of Saschiz and in Rupea, to visit the medieval citadel. After reaching Braşov, you can explore its Renaissance and Gothic centre and its rich museums and have dinner in a classy restaurant before ending the day in your hotel room.
Day 3 (189km): The road between Braşov and Sibiu is packed with must-see attractions, such as Făgăraş Citadel, Brâncoveanu Monastery in Sâmbăta de Sus or the Cistercian Monastery in Cârţa.
Tour 2
3-day Transylvania Tour
Day 1 (175km): From Sibiu, head to Cluj-Napoca, stopping on the way to various attractions depending on your time schedule. You can visit the Saxon fortified church in Câlnic, take a short tour of Alba Iulia Citadel, explore Cheile Turzii Natural Reserve, visit Turda Salt Mine or allow yourself more time for enjoying the atmosphere in Cluj-Napoca.
Day 2 (160km): Enter in the heart of Transylvania by visiting the beautiful Baroque city of Târgu Mureş and by heading to Sighişoara for an autenthic medieval atmosphere, enhanced by the town’s cobblestone streets, towers and museums.
Day 3 (180km): Start the day with a visit to the nearby Saxon Fortified church in Saschiz. Return to Sighişoara and take DN14 to Sibiu, halting on the way in Mălâncrav, house of Apafy Manor and a Saxon church, and in Biertan, where you should not miss the UNESCO fortified church.
Tour 3
3-day Transylvania Tour
Day 1 (80km): Leave Braşov and head north, toward the heart of the Székely Land. Halt in the Saxon villages of Hărman and Prejmer to visit their fortified churches and take a short tour of the city of Sfântu Gheorghe. Continue driving on E578 road until you reach the volcanic Lake Sfânta Ana and then stop for the night in one of Băile Tuşnad or Băile Balvanyos resorts.
Day 2 (130km): Go to Miercurea Ciuc and spend the day exploring its charming streets and admiring its historical buildings, such as Mikó Castle. You can end the day in Odorheiu Secuiesc, but before that, if the time allows it, you can also visit Ivó Wildlife Park, situated 25km north from the town.
Day 3 (120km): Start your journey back to Braşov and, on the way, visit the remains of Feldioara Citadel and make a detour to Codlea, to visit its Saxon fortified church.
Tour 4
5-day Transylvania Tour
Day 1 (250km): Leave the big city of Cluj-Napooca for the small village of Ciucea, to visit the manor that belonged to poets Ady Endre and Octavian Goga. Head to Jibou to explore one of the most beautiful botanical gardens in the country and end the day in Bistriţa.
Day 2 (140km): After a tour of Bistriţa Citadel and the city’s Renaissance and Gothic monuments (Sugălete, Silverman’s House, Johannes Lapicida’s House), head to Miercurea Ciuc and spend the day exploring its charming streets and admiring its historical buildings, especially Mikó Castle. A one-hour drive will lead you to Sovata for the night.
Day 3 (80km): During the morning bathe in Lake Ursu or head to Praid, for a visit to the salt mine, and Corund, a popular ceramics centre. Dedicate the rest of the day for exploring Sighişoara.
Day 4 (135km): Follow DN14 west and stop in Biertan to visit the famous fortified church and in the Saxon town of Mediaş for a short tour and lunch. Continue your trip to Alba Iulia, where you will find an impressive cathedral and a restored Vauban-style citadel.
Day 5 (155km): Head north back to Cluj-Napoca and spice up your return journey with stops at Râmeţ Monastery, one of the oldest in Transylvania, in Turda, at the salt mine, and with a small detour to visit the spectacular Turda Gorges.
Tour 5
5-day Transylvania Tour
Day 1 (210km): Leave Sibiu and head west to visit the Saxon fortified church in Câlnic. Continue your trip to Orăştie, the base for exploring the Dacian fortresses, and Deva, your final destination for the day.
Day 2 (145km): Take a climb to Deva Citadel and then head to Hunedoara to visit Huniad Castle. Drive to the nearby town of Haţeg to visit the reserve of European bisons and continue south to Densuş, home to a pre-Gothic stone Church, and to Ulpia Traiana Sarmizegetusa, before returning to Deva.
Day 3 (255km): A 1.5 hours drive north will lead you to the Apuseni Mountains, where you will have the chance to visit the glacier from Scărişoara Cave. Crossing the mountains and heading east will take you to Cluj-Napoca, where you can rest in a elegant hotel.
Day 4 (175km): After a halt in Cluj-Napoca’s main churches and museums, you can go to Turda to visit the modern salt mine, before heading to Târgu Mureş for a short city tour and to Sighişoara for accommodation.
Day 5 (110km): Explore medieval Sighişoara for the first part of the day and then return to Sibiu, stopping to visit the Saxon fortified church in Biertan on the way.
Tour 6
7-day Transylvania Tour
Day 1 (20km): Enjoy the medieval atmosphere of Sibiu by taking a tour of its museums, streets and squares. Head to one of the villages in Mărginimea Sibiului for traditional dinner and accommodation.
Day 2 (195km): Start your ascension to the north and stop on the way in Câlnic, to visit the Saxon fortified church, and in Alba Iulia, for a short tour of the citadel. Optionally, you can also visit the nearby Râmeţ Monastery before ending the day in Cluj-Napoca, but we would recommend heading straight there to take a more thorough tour of the city.
Day 3 (195km): Leave Cluj-Napoca, drive through the Turda Gorges and then stop to visit the modern Turda salt mine. While your route continues southeast to lovely Sighişoara, your host for the second part of the day, halt for a while in the village of Biertan.
Day 4 (115km): Linger some more on the streets of Sighişoara before departing to your next stops, the fortified church in Saschiz and Rupea citadel. Follow DN13 to Braşov and spend the day taking a tour of the city and its rich museums before accommodating in a cosy hotel.
Day 5 (55km): Spend the day exploring the surroundings of Braşov and visiting the Saxon villages of Hărman and Prejmer for their fortified churches. Then head to Poiana Braşov and enjoy a well-deserved relaxed afternoon that will recharge your batteries.
Day 6 (40km): Start the day with a climb to Râşnov Citadel and then follow E574 road to Bran for a visit to Bran Castle. Accommodate in one of the pensions in the villages from Rucăr-Bran area, where you can find out more about traditional occupations and enjoy the local cuisine.
Day 7 (190km): The return road to Sibiu is packed with must-see attractions, such as Făgăraş Citadel, Brâncoveanu Monastery in Sâmbăta de Sus or the Cistercian Monastery in Cârţa.
Tour 7

Day 3 (70km): A one-hour drive will take you to the medieval citadel Sighişoara. On the way you can visit the UNESCO fortified church in Saschiz.
Day 4 (180km): The Saxon church in Biertan, the town of Mediaş and Turda salt mine are possible stops during your route to Cluj-Napoca, your destination for the day.
Day 5 (125km): Leave the city behind and head to the Apuseni Mountains. Crossing them from north to south on DN1R road will take you to Horea, a village with historical importance. After visiting the nearby Scărişoara Cave, you can accommodate in a pension or in a local’s house in Gârda de Sus or Arieşeni.
Day 6 (190km): For the first part of the day, explore the city of Alba Iulia, with its elegant citadel and cathedral, and then head to Mărginimea Sibiului ethno-folkloric area to visit the icon museum in Sibiel and enjoy traditional dinner and accommodation.
Day 7 (200km): Dedicate the day to discovering Sibiu. On your way back to Braşov, you can make short halts to visit the Cistercian Monastery in Cârţa, Brâncoveanu Monastery in Sâmbăta de Sus or Făgăraş Citadel.
