Praid is a small but popular holiday centre situated very close to Sovata, home to a salt mine where people come for the respiratory illnesses’ treatment. Near the mine, there is also a treatment and entertainment centre where tourists will find two salt water outdoor pools, lockers, showers, a beach area, a bar, a fast-food and a summer terrace. The resort also boasts with a thermal pool, which is filled by a thermal water spring discovered in 1950. But Praid is not known only for its salt. Every year, the resort hosts the “Festival of Sarmale”, a good occasion for tourists to find out more about the local traditions and cuisine. In the surrounding of Praid, you can also visit the old medieval Saxon citadel Rapsonné, the remains of a historical monument, and the Salt Canyon, where you can reach by taking a stroll from the resort.
